Bedlam

The word originated from the name of a London mental hospital, St. Mary of Bethlehem Hospital, where the Royal Navy would discharge men for treatment of mental illness.  Now the word is used to describe a state of extreme confusion and disorder. A nautical term that has now become part of everyday language
