Why Grandma Was Charged After Serving Family Hot Chocolate

Sometimes grandma gets things wrong. In 2015, a grandmother in Italy had some guests over and decided to make them some hot chocolate. But, as the Guardian reported, the hot chocolate packets she used had expired — in 1990. The likely rancid treat turned into a brutal trick, inflicting the five people who drank it (including the grandmother herself, as well as two kids ages 8 and 12) with diarrhea and vomiting spells severe enough to warrant five ER visits. The negligent grandmother was charged with a crime, although one hopes that those charges were dropped.
