Unlike recent renditions of the tournament, the inaugural 1930 Football World Cup finals did not have an official ball. So when Argentina took the field against hosts Uruguay in the final, they did so with two different sized balls in each half. Argentina favoured a smaller ball, which was used in the first half and helped them to a 2-1 halftime lead. Using a bigger ball in the second half, the Uruguayans added three more goals to power to a 4-2 win.
