The royal baby – a healthy baby boy, a strapping 8lbs 6oz – born on 22 July 2013 at 4:24 pm is the first Prince of Cambridge to be born for nearly two centuries. The last, Prince George of Cambridge, was a bit of rebel – refusing the arranged marriage his parents thrust upon him in favour of a love affair with a beautiful dancer. Their marriage was never approved by the monarchy, so the prince’s offspring weren’t eligible to receive royal titles.
The yet to be named son is the firstborn of Britain’s Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Prince William’s wife Kate gave birth on Monday to a baby boy, in the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital. The child becomes third in line to the British throne, his office said.
